Adventures in Xeriscape

It took a little bit o’ blood, sweat, and tears (ok, mostly sweat), but the front yard finally has a little color. It was really important to me to have native Texas flowers who could hold up to this southern heat. I learned a lot about xeriscaping and am going to be using this reference again when we plant in the back yard.

 

The soil was in pretty decent condition, but it definitely needed a lots of love. I cleared a lot of leaves, roots, and weeds before digging out holes. Check out all the random treasures that I found (Yep, that’s a saw blade up there. Yikes).

Lantana. This little thing is going to be about 2-3 feet tall in a couple weeks.

Are you planting for the fall? Any tips for growing anything in the south?
