DIY :: Jewelry Display

August 15, 2012

I’m on an organizing kick over here (truth: I’m distracted from the *real* organizing — like trying to finish unpacking the last 5 boxes — by craftiness. I blame Pinterest. Definitely Pinterest.)

On the technicality scale, this one ranks pretty low. Most of the stuff I already had–minus the super awesome wrapping paper from World Market (that place is the death of me. Add them to the list of why I’ve been putting off unpacking).

1. Measure your cork board. You’ll want to cut your wrapping paper just slightly bigger than your measurements.

2. I had originally intended to paint the frame but I changed my mind. Who knows, maybe I’ll change it back at some point. Right now I’m digging the black. What I’d really like to do is bring out the turquoise to match my little cart in the corner. Anyway, YOU may want to paint your frame. This is a good time to do that. Maybe you’ll want to sand it a little bit first? I don’t know, I really hadn’t gotten that far.

3. After the paint’s dried, carefully fit the paper inside your frame and over the cork (this is a REALLY cheap cork board and I think it might have been missing a few pieces because the cork was not removable. I was able to slide the paper between the frame and the cork, though).

4. If you want your paper more secured, use the glue gun to make small glue spots along the edges of the frame BEFORE you place the paper. You may want to skip this step if you plan to swap out the paper sometime down the line.

5. Decide where your push pins will be placed based on the lengths of your jewelry. That’s it! Now marvel at how awesome it is that your necklaces are no longer tangled in the bottom of a box!

    Love it! Love the tones of the paper and push pins. Nice job.

      Thank you! I had to go to two stores to find the right ones….You’d be surprised how many people don’t know what push pins are! 🙂

What's on your mind?
