wicked

January 19, 2012

I love regional slang. Love it. I’ve bopped around enough to have collected some good phrases and terms. When I lived in Wisconsin, the water fountain was referred to as the “bubbler”. My friends from Australia have nicknames for ev-ry-thing. And so I wear sunnies and flips when it’s nice out.

When I was living on the east coast wicked was the qualifier for just about everything. Wicked cold, wicked hot, wicked hungry…whatever. In Austin, people are fixin’ to go places right quick. I love that.

So. This post actually has nothing to do with slang ( a testament of how easily I get sidetracked). The real news is: I got my tickets to WICKED the MUSICAL in the mail today!! I’ve been driving by the billboard for this show on my way to work (where 35 south crosses 183) for the past month. I bought tickets for M and me while he visits and had completely planned to surprise him. In related news: I am the worst at keeping secrets like that. I get little-kid-at-Christmas excited about the reveal that it makes it really hard to contain. So I spilled the beans over the phone a little early. He was still surprised, I just didn’t get to enjoy the look on his face.  And he missed out on my little happy dance. Oh well, we’re still going to see Wicked! 😀
